TF2 Trading Tips for Beginners ------------------------------ Section 1: Going from poor to rich Starting off, if you're F2P or Premium, you'll need a tradable weapon/item. After you get that weapon/item (explained in Tutorial #1) you must build your way up. The first thing you need to do is sell your weapon/item for metal. I use the "Flare Gun" as my example. To learn how to check the value of the weapon, look at Tutorial #2. I would then post trades on most of the websites below. Websites I normally use ----------------------- TF2outpost.com - Most popular trading site TF2TP.com - Second most popular trading site Bazaar.tf - Semi-popular trading site Backpack.tf/classifieds - Site most people don't usually check, but sometimes you may be lucky Websites I don't ususally use buy you may find useful ----------------------------------------------------- www.reddit.com/r/tf2trade - Reddit trading website http://www.skial.com/xentrader - Skial trading website --- A guide to using Outpost: Make sure you're logged in to your Steam account before starting. First click on the plus sign on the top area. Then select the item/weapon from your Backpack that you'd like to sell for metal. (Make sure it's tradable) By clicking on the picture, it will be selected. The item should show up in the first box in the top left 8 boxes. Now click on one of the top right 8 boxes, and in the search area search for, "Scrap Metal". (Unless your item is worth more, check Tutorial #2 for that.) Finally, in the text box below your Backpack, type in: Trading "Your Weapon/Item" for "Designated amount of metal" After 30 minutes, if you click on "My trades," you can click the up arrow to bump your trade. That way you can bring your trade to the top of the list. Make sure you bump your trade frequently, to get quicker, more efficient trades. --- A guide to using Trade Post (TF2TP): Make sure you're logged in to your Steam account before starting. Click on, "Propose a Trade" in the top area. Then click on the item in your inventory that you want to sell for metal. After that, click on, "Step 2". Now click the "Misc" icon and look for a brown pile of metal. When you put your mouse over it, it should display the text, "Scrap Metal". Click on that, unless you're item is worth more than a scrap. (Determined by Tutorial #2) If it is, then click on how much it's worth in metal. Finally, click "Step 3" and enter in the following text: Trading "Your Weapon/Item" for "Designated amount of metal" After 30 minutes, if you click "My Trades", you can click "Bump" right above each of your trade(s). That way you can bring your trade to the top of the list. Make sure you bump your trade frequently, to get quicker, more efficient trades. --- Bazaar and Backpack.tf have the same concept. Try it out yourself! --- Another way of speeding up trading is going on trade servers. Simply open up TF2, click, "Servers" and type in the Keyword/Tags section, "Trade". Then click, "Players" to bring up the list of trade servers with the most players. Click on the top one. You may get kicked if you're not premium, so if you do, try other trade servers. I like to join trade servers with the following maps: trade_plaza trade_plaza_newbs trade_rawr_v1 trade_rawr_v2 Usually the servers with these maps don't have lots of idlers or micspammers, so I don't prefer to join these: achievement_idle achievement_idle_awesome And other "achievement_idle_..." maps, because they have lots of idlers and less traders. Other than that, go on one of the trade servers. Type "y" to bring up the chat box. Then type in the message, where your replace the words in "" with what they represent. Selling "Your Weapon/Item" for "X Value", send me a trade request if you'd like it! Send a request to: "Your Username" Simply copy the text you enter, then press the "Enter" or "Return" key! After a while, type "y" again and paste the text you typed in before. Make sure you don't spam the trade server, or you'll get kicked or yelled at. Once you get the metal you need, you can move on to either: Tutorial 2 or Section 2! Tutorial 2 is a more step-by-step guide, and Section 2 is a faster paced version.
