Null's distraction had not worked as well as planned, but it had least deterred her enemy from an immedate second attack. Coming to a quick decision, Carmen swiped two ideal samples from her wallet - a pair of mismatched fangs - before nonchalantly ingesting them. One would provide her the strength she needed, the other a much-needed layer of defense -- if she could find time to shapeshift into them. Like every opponent before her, Silash clearly did not intend to make this easy for her. Every manner of bird and insect alike fled from the vicinity, their chorused scurries completely unheard over the deafening cry of the hunter. Carmen found herself instantly forced to stagger, raising both palms to her ears while the acute pain rung through. In contrast, Null did not appear to even notice Silash's roar, its illusional facade watching the cat as studiously as before. The shapeshifter's inherant tolerance was enough to keep her standing - but once conscious of the problem, she was able to take a much more drastic countermeasure. It took but a slight biological mutation to disconnect her respective nerves, avoiding any further harm at the expense of her audition. "Not civil at all." Her foe's maw finally rested shut, and Carmen shook her head, lowering both arms into a guard stance. The disorientation had set in, making her hold off on her shapeshifting in favour of withholding concentration. "I'll hope that was all you had to say..." No pauses were left between Silash's momentum, and in no time at all had she closed the distance around Null, aiming a second slash at Carmen's upper. The attack was made obvious, but also forceful, signalled by her claws stretching back to strike. Her body weaved back as her left leg raised, barely reaching outside of Silash's overwhelming range. Having read the motion, her left hand followed in an attempt to catch Silash's wrist, directing it to her right if successful. Her body twisted clockwise, aiding her to deliver a side-sweep to the opponent's front foot. While her power was lacking in comparison - marginally above human peak - the weight put behind them was deceivingly close to Silash's own, making them hold significant threat to her balance.
