[ GENERAL INFO ]


IT'S NOT DIFFERENT

DayZ in its current form has currently been in development for barely a year, and during that time the highest priority has been the engine itself, as well a lot of things under-the-hood. Gameplay has [i]not[/i] been the focus at all. Most of the things you see in-game are either placeholders or skeletons for future work.

HOW IS THE PERFORMANCE

The overall performance should be smoother (not as choppy framerate-wise) which will make the experience a bit more enjoyable. But from [i]personal experience,[/i] I can say that cities are still somewhat of a problem due to furniture and loot items.

IS OR WILL THERE BE MODDING

Not currently, but it is planned to be open for modding "within 6 months to a year." There is no set date but modding will become available once they know that it can be done without making the game [i]completely unplayable.[/i]

WHY IS THE PRICE SO HIGH

The price is what it is to keep off (read: discourage) the more casual gamers. The Alpha is aimed at the hardcore fans of DayZ, not the entire gamer population.

WILL THE PRICE CHANGE

The price will either stay the same or rise as it gets closer to a full release. It's unlikely to change anytime soon. [i](A year, my personal estimate.)[/i]


[ TECHNICAL ISSUES ]


CANNOT MOVE MOUSE

Run the game in a window. That is currently the only working solution I know of. Will update if/when I find out more.

NO SERVERS

Click on the Internet tab. In some cases the server browser does not automatically search for servers, but selecting the appropriate tab will fix things right away.

CANNOT DO/INTERACT WITH ANYTHING

You are out of sync wth the server. [i](Poor connection.)[/i]
When this happens, you cannot do anything that's handled by the server, which means that you pretty much cannot do anything but move.

MOUSE ACCELERATION

Acceleration is currently enabled and cannot be turned off. It will be eventually removed or at least made toggleable.

WHAT MAP AND HOW MANY

DayZ currently has one map, which is "Chernarus+." It's similar to the original Chernarus map that we saw in the DayZ mod, except the locations of towns and their layouts have been revamped, along with making almost every building accessible.

CHANGING CHARACTER

In order to choose the kind of character you want to play as, you have to go into the character creation screen, make your character, and click "Set Default" and join a server. The character you made will now be used as your starting character every time you spawn until you make a new character.

HOW TO HAVE TEAMS/SQUADS

Currently the only way to recognize your friends is by keeping track of what they're wearing. Rocket has mentioned a "clan system" which is [i]actually[/i] as simple as having colored bands or other symbols/insignia on you. [b]THIS MIGHT NOT BE CONFIRMED.[/b]

UNCONSCIOUS

Press ESC and click "Respawn."

HOW TO DO BLOOD TRANSFUSION

If you want to heal yourself with a blood transfusion, find someone with a matching or otherwise valid blood-type. If you transfuse the wrong blood into yourself, you're going to die with no chance of survival.

I HAVE A GUN AND BULLETS BUT CAN'T SHOOT

The bullets and magazine are now two separate items. You can find bullets, magazines, or magazines with bullets. Right click or drag-and-drop your bullets into your magazine, and then do the same to load the magazine into your weapon.
