Wall of text incoming! My experience on Harmony of a Hunter all started when I sent a timid and overly formal email to Darren asking to be a part of the album after I found out about it through a friend (back when it was supposed to be a secret!). Eventually, Darren settled with giving me the Secrets of the Chozo theme, which I then remixed into Alluring Darkness. Hardest remix I've ever done, that's for sure! Props to Jonathan "Buoy" Gjertsen for the excellent guitar work he did. After that, I got my good friend Erik Scerri on board, and got the green light from Darren to collaborate on the Metroid Prime Menu Theme, which later became Primoris. I loved that theme and thought it was begging for a cinematic orchestral/soundtrack remix. Erik came over to my place, and following two days (with almost an all-nighter in-between) we conjured up a sizeable chunk of the theme, which we then worked on separately from our own homes. Upon completion, I was quite proud of it and elated when I found out it was going to be the opening theme to the whole album. I asked Darren very nicely if I could take on one more track, to which he answered "sure why not" (or something along those lines). I took the Luminoth theme and honestly, the remix just came very naturally to me. Somehow I managed to mix together an acoustic guitar, ethnic percussion, middle-eastern woodwinds, and a whole orchestra into what I personally think is my best track on the album. A shout-out to Jonathan once again for recording his guitar and putting up with my obnoxious tempo changes. What followed were smaller projects. I was asked to make a quick item fanfare remix which was used in the first preview. That didn't take me long, needless to say. I also had the privilege of helping out other album artists in the form of feedback on practically every track, plus some special assistance when needed. I totally remade an orchestral section Cursed Lemon had in his sweet Prime Trilogy Menu remix ("Where to from Here?"), added a few minor sounds/instruments to Jonathan's track "Depths of Phendrana", and did the mixing for Luis's Other M track "Unfinished Business". The latter especially was something that was tough for me to do, since I'm no expert when it comes to mixing, but I had quite a bit of experience working with the instrument samples Luis was using and entirely reworked his track. But yeah, overall the experience has been unparalleled. My name shows up several times in the album (for better or for worse!) and the fact that I've made a relatively large contribution to such an amazing album has me psyched to this day. And now I'm on Harmony of Heroes too? I'm one hell of a lucky sod.
