*The Road Project* Cormac McCarthy’s The Road require us to look at the world through a new lens – to view things not as what we wish they were, but as what they literally are. Even the concept of being literal, however, can be interpreted through a multitude of views. Interpret The Road…but do so visually. Begin by identifying what you believe is an important theme or concept presented by The Road. This should be developed into a carefully worded, fully explored THESIS. (Remember a thesis presents an argument – it is not a description, or a statement – it is an argument.) Next, identify THREE direct quotes from the novel that you feel support or prove your thesis. Now comes the fun part….. Using your skills (or experimenting to discover your skills) in photography, create an image to represent EACH quote. The title of your photograph will be the quote to which it corresponds. You are in complete control of the creation of the images – feel free to manipulate them before, during, or after filming. They can be as literal or as imaginative as you’d like. For each image, you will need to TYPE (TNR 12pt DS) a one sentence explanation of how the quote proves your thesis. Your success will be measured on November 25, 2013 On that day, you will be a guest of honor at an AMSTUD Photo Show. How you choose to present your photographs is up to you. They can be shown on your blog, on a PowerPoint presentation, printed on a poster board, or any way you would like. Regardless of the method you use, you will need to turn in to us (at the beginning of class on November 25); if it is digital, it must be saved in your school H: drive by the beginning of class on November 25. We will present and discuss them that day.
