Background: 

Born into a family of masons, for generations they've served the royal family with the head being the Royal Mason. Kashell was brought up by his father to inherit his title, and thus was taught in the ways of masonry. Despite his obvious talents, he was a rebellious youth often avoiding his lessons and running off to explore the castle. During these times of his youth, he discovered many secret passages that apparently his father didn't even know about from how poorly maintained they looked. 

Even as he grew older, he refused to inherit the title of Royal Mason. Instead opting to stall for time by participating in the Last War of the King. From his time in the war, he learned to apply his masonry skills to blacksmithing to help maintain weapons and make new ones.

All was not well when he returned from the war though. He returned to find that his father had passed away, leaving the castle restoration incomplete. Realizing there was no putting it off any longer he took up the title of Royal Mason as his father meant for him and continued the work he left unfinished. 

During his restoration, he kept track and secretly restored all the hidden passages he had discovered from his years of living in the castle and exploring. He planned on keeping them a secret and using them to peep on unsuspecting people. Surprisingly enough, he was able to explore the entire castle through the labyrinth of hidden passages.

Ever since then he has spent his days doing minor jobs and helping maintain the royal guard's weapons using his self taught blacksmithing skills.
