The threat of a bird flu pandemic has been exaggerated by the media to boost the sale of advertising and the share prices of drug companies. Although a few people have been infected by bird flu over the years, the virus is not transmissible from human to human and therefore a pandemic is unlikely. How could the virus adapt in a single step to spread through human populations? Even if it could, it is unlikely to be the apocalyptic event predicted by the media. Look at how mild the H1N1 “pandemic” was. It barely affected society. Infections were easily controlled by a safe, readily available and effective vaccine.
