Possessing the quality to adhere to basic moral principles is essential for a successful society and community. This quality is essential when undertaking any task, even more so when in the force in order to maintain a balanced and open mind set which will rid of any bias and un-thoughtful decision making. To me, basic moral principles are honesty, loyalty, fairness and integrity; all of which I understand and put them into practice on a day-to-day basis which enables me to maintain a fulfilling life of being content and complete. I believe following these principals is possibly more important as an officer than as a civilian, simply due to the diversity and complexity of situations which officers face daily. Police officers also have a great responsibility, so being fair and honest are two of the most valuable qualities an officer can have. Carrying out promises and doing ones duty are also vital, and once again, I believe this principal is very suitable for a police officer as they may at times be faced with dangerous situations and carrying out their duty will be vital to ensure the correct measures are taken. I consider myself a compassionate man, whether in the workplace or in my personal life. Personally, I believe being caring is one of the most important characteristics a person can have, not only as an officer, a civilian as well. I believe being able to empathise with suspects is of utmost importance and will help to determine many factors to do with the situation, whatever it may be.
