[2014 | Mar 09 | 16:25:42] I thought it's common to review people's behaviour, hence why I said "check" [2014 | Mar 09 | 16:26:07] I'm talking about staff [2014 | Mar 09 | 16:26:10] I know [2014 | Mar 09 | 16:26:11] You are one so youd probably know [2014 | Mar 09 | 16:26:18] But I didnt because im not in that circle [2014 | Mar 09 | 16:26:23] duh [2014 | Mar 09 | 16:26:44] so thats why I said what i said [2014 | Mar 09 | 16:26:56] It seems all to be shrouded in mystery and mist [2014 | Mar 09 | 16:27:05] say if there was a power abuse, the average user [2014 | Mar 09 | 16:27:09] wouldnt know what to do about it [2014 | Mar 09 | 16:27:21] cause theres nothing on the wiki or site that outlines any prodecures for such a thing [2014 | Mar 09 | 16:27:31] probably because you don't need to know about the internal stuff and relationships inside the team [2014 | Mar 09 | 16:27:35] hmmmmm [2014 | Mar 09 | 16:27:53] good point; might add something on wiki about the abuse [2014 | Mar 09 | 16:28:12] We dont need to know that [2014 | Mar 09 | 16:28:26] but we need to know if staff are actually competent [2014 | Mar 09 | 16:28:35] so we can be assured we're getting quality moderation [2014 | Mar 09 | 16:28:58] It looks a lot better if you tell the popluace that our staff are reviewed for any sort of problems such as attutide/behavioiur/power usage etc [2014 | Mar 09 | 16:29:16] well, they are usually competent, else they wouldn't have been chosen in the first place [2014 | Mar 09 | 16:29:34] You could say that but; we dont know how people are selected either [2014 | Mar 09 | 16:29:49] having transpency on these things would improve things massively [2014 | Mar 09 | 16:30:06] We dont need to know all the internal affairs stuff [2014 | Mar 09 | 16:31:10] Im not trying to accuse you or the entire staff of being power abusers [2014 | Mar 09 | 16:31:23] But I have seen and been subject to very questionable vague rulings [2014 | Mar 09 | 16:31:38] what do you mean by transparency? A list of reasons why we chose X to moderate #channel/s? [2014 | Mar 09 | 16:31:46] What i mean is [2014 | Mar 09 | 16:32:22] Prehaps some detail on how staff are selected; the regluations they may be subject to (rules for moderators basically to keep them in check so they dont go overboard with their silences) [2014 | Mar 09 | 16:32:46] Some detail on how to complain/report staff if you feel like they have abused their power [2014 | Mar 09 | 16:32:48] thats all really [2014 | Mar 09 | 16:33:07] it would also cause some of the problematic mods to think twice before they do something like silence [2014 | Mar 09 | 16:33:22] because right now, it seems to me they can do what they like in channels without much consequence [2014 | Mar 09 | 16:33:36] But I may be very wrong annd I just didnnt know; this would relate back to transparency [2014 | Mar 09 | 16:34:15] tell me more about your view. Where do you expect all this to be? Like, a special page or something? [2014 | Mar 09 | 16:34:39] Somewhere on the osu! wiki I guess [2014 | Mar 09 | 16:34:48] Seems like the approriate place to do it [2014 | Mar 09 | 16:35:20] yea [2014 | Mar 09 | 16:35:45] Basically: I dont agree with how IRC is moderated for the most part. [2014 | Mar 09 | 16:35:56] The main things that feed into this is: [2014 | Mar 09 | 16:36:03] 1: #osu is autojoined by everyone that logs into osu! [2014 | Mar 09 | 16:36:16] so you get loads of new players or non english speakers kinda all like dumped in [2014 | Mar 09 | 16:36:34] And causes a fair bit of problems that require some heavy moderation to take care of it. [2014 | Mar 09 | 16:36:53] Solution would be to have #osu not be autojoined when you start the game. [2014 | Mar 09 | 16:37:05] That'd filter out a lot of problems in a ethical manner [2014 | Mar 09 | 16:38:44] ... [2014 | Mar 09 | 16:38:46] you see modhelp? [2014 | Mar 09 | 16:38:53] I do [2014 | Mar 09 | 16:38:58] This is the kinda thing that brought me to complain about th is. [2014 | Mar 09 | 16:38:59] http://puu.sh/7oM2O.png [2014 | Mar 09 | 16:39:21] I had more to say, but this may just sum it all up. [2014 | Mar 09 | 16:39:44] some people find it entertaining to endlessly complain and argue with the staff [2014 | Mar 09 | 16:39:47] "[16:38:33] You're here to moderate [2014 | Mar 09 | 16:39:48] [16:38:35] not to silence" [2014 | Mar 09 | 16:40:04] instead of taking the hint and stopping the unproductive talk [2014 | Mar 09 | 16:40:34] Well, to his defense Zallius may of just said something very conversial [2014 | Mar 09 | 16:40:41] I'll see what I can do about wiki; mind that it'll be defined after I discuss that with someone else [2014 | Mar 09 | 16:40:42] something that'd stir up that kind of relitation [2014 | Mar 09 | 16:40:48] I see [2014 | Mar 09 | 16:41:45] My points after that were gonnna be that the IRC rules arent comphrensive enough to cover what you can be silenced for [2014 | Mar 09 | 16:42:03] And that some of the moderators are nnot impartial and silence for personal/emotional things it seems. [2014 | Mar 09 | 16:42:17] But #modhelp just may sum it up really. [2014 | Mar 09 | 17:03:24] Thank you for hearing me out and not dismissing it [2014 | Mar 09 | 17:04:59] np
