"Headshot" Kingdra @ Scope Lens / Razor Claw Ability: Sniper Nature: Timid/Modest EVs: 252 SpA, 252Spe, 4 HP -Surf/Hydro Pump -Ice Beam/Blizzard -Draco Meteor -Focus Energy *Critical Hit mechanics have been revamped in Gen VI, and this set takes full advantage of it. Critical hits have a 6.25% chance of occurring, and a 12.5% one if you hold an item that boots the odds or use a move with a higher Crit ratio. With Two boosts, a Critical Hit is a 50/50 chance, and if you have three boosts (i.e. Focus Energy + Scope Lens) then a Crit is 100% ensured. To balance this, Crits will normally do 1.35x damage. With the Sniper boost (1.5x extra for crits), however, Critical Hits will do a quite respectable 2.25x. Plus, since Crits will ignore both your stat drops and the opponents stat boosts, you can happily spam Draco Meteor to your heart's content, and that is the basis of this set. Massive damage, and the strongest Dragon-Type move in the game with zero drawbacks. However, the turn necessary to set up a Focus energy can leave you open to all sorts of attacks or setup opportunities, so be wary. 2. "Co-Op" Kingdra @ Scope Lens OR Choice Specs Ability: Swift Swim Nature: Timid/Modest EVs: 252 SpA, 252 Spe, 4 HP -Surf -Ice Beam/Blizzard -Scald/Hydro Pump/Focus Energy -Draco Meteor *This is more of a Doubles and Triples Set. It absolutely needs Rain to function, so keep that in mind when building your team. There are two real options here: Either you can attempt to recreate the Sniper Setup above and guarantee Critical Hits, or you can go the brute force route. Choice Specs give a 50% boost to Special attack, which, when combined with Kingdra's respectable base 95 SpA, allows for quite the formidable boost in power. Naturally, it it impossible on a Crit-oriented set. Since you are locked into one move, you are unable to set up Focus Energy and still attack, ergo the option to go with either Scald (weaker but a 30% burn chance) or Hydro Pump (massive power but lower accuracy). A Specs-boosted Surf in the Rain will do MASSIVE damage to the rest of the field, so make sure you plan accordingly. Galvantula: *Since Kingdra's speed is hardly the best, some support doesn't hurt. Galvantula is one of the only Pokemon with Sticky Web, a new entry hazard that gives all Pokemon that touch the ground a level one speed drop when entering the battle. This greatly helps, as Kingdra is outsped by just about every Choice Scarf user in the metagame. Galvantula is also a respectable Special Attacker. 2.
