I, Prismic, hereby nominate Nickzip, former community Advisor, for the rank of Regular. -------------------- In his time, Nick has invested his fair share of commitment to this community and it's predecessor, Terminal Shell. As an advisor he was proactive about ensuring the server stayed up, dealing with troublemakers, and generally being an enjoyable and friendly character in the TeamSpeak. While the Advisor position was fairly limited in what it could do, if ever there was a problem outside of his ability to deal with, he was always quick to call and inform me so it could be fixed. Following my resignation, Nick also lost his position. This did not mean we intended to leave the community; rather, simply to step down from the positions of authority we previously held. As Nick was active in TeamSpeak and did not post often on the forums, he was set to the rank of Registered. While there are rules that do define this as being the normal procedure, those rules (especially in the earlier times) were not always such, and even exceptions are made in certain circumstances. Take for example, Rommel, who at this point in time is a Mentor with only 7 posts. I don't mention him to bring Rommel down, but rather exemplify that there are valid exceptions to the rule. Under those same set of circumstances, I believe Nick should, at the very least in honor and respect for his time and service here, be granted the rank of Regular. Some might say "it's only 50 posts, what's so tough about that?". Certainly it's not tough. But those same rules also say "Don't post just to get to Regular faster". Expecting him to do so just to get Regular only encourages that, especially from someone who preferred to talk by voice over typing things out. In a sense, being moved down into the lowest possible rank almost comes across as disrespectful, as if all of his time here meant nothing. The rule is there as a guideline to ensure activity and dedication to the community, and once earned it remains, and I think he's already earned far beyond that. One final note. Few know this, but Nick has been around longer than even I have, and originally outranked me. Back in Terminal Shell (which was the predecessor to FQD), we had a policy of giving a special honorary rank to retired admins as recognition of their tenure. While we tried this here and ultimately decided against it, something as simple as granting him the rank of Regular is all I that I'm asking out of simple respect. -------------------- That is all. Feel free to add seconds to this, or your thoughts and opinions: for, against, or otherwise. Thank you, - Mike
